When you are involved in a legal action, it is not always clear whether or not you need to hire an attorney to represent your interests, or whether the matter is small enough that you can represent your interests on your own. Call civil litigation Austin.
For instance, in small claims court, it is rare to see an attorney present who is representing the interests of one of the parties to the suit. Rather, because the matters are of such small significance, people generally just explain their side of the situation, each in turn, and then the judge makes their determination.
However, I have found that in any kind of legal situation that goes beyond a small civil matter, retaining the services of a civil litigation attorney is generally a good idea. Of course, in legal matters, my attitude has always been that it is always better to err on the side of caution. It's like the old adage, "better safe than sorry." My feeling is that it is better to have an attorney and find out that one was not needed then to suddenly be in a situation where an attorney would've done a much better job protecting me, and then I don't have one!
